1. Information We Collect

VIN-sights collects minimal data to function:

• Vehicle information (VIN, year, make, model, trim, engine) — stored locally on your device
• Search queries — stored locally on your device
• Mileage entries — stored locally on your device

We do NOT collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, location data, contacts, or any other personal information.

2. How We Use Information

Vehicle and search data is sent to our server solely to process your AI requests (part search, diagnosis, maintenance). This data is not stored on our servers after the response is generated.

3. Data Storage

All user data (saved vehicles, search history, mileage, preferences) is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed. We have no way to recover it.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude API — to process AI requests (vehicle data is sent for processing only)
• NHTSA API — to retrieve recall data (only year, make, and model are sent)
• Third-party retailers — when you tap a store link, you leave our app and are subject to that retailer's privacy policy

5. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, share, or distribute your data to any third party for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose. Period.

6. Children's Privacy

VIN-sights is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

7. Security

All communication between the app and our server is encrypted using HTTPS. API keys and secrets are stored securely on the server, never in the app code distributed to users.

8. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. You can:

• View your data anytime in the app
• Delete search history from within the app
• Remove saved vehicles from your garage
• Delete the app to remove all data permanently

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page and in the app. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
